- General Physical examination

- RS - clear AEBE, no added sound, no e/o pleural effusion
- CNS - no FND
- ± GI - oral cavity normal
- P/A - patient examined after obtaining consent, in an empty the bladder & exposed from xiphisternum to pubic symphysis, and flanks in the presence of chaperone
- Inspection findings
- Fullness noted in
- Umblicus - at center, moved up/down/side, everted/inverted
- Skin - normal, no scar/dilated veins /visible peristalsis/pulsation
- Scar - healed normally/keloid/sinuses’
- All quadrant move equally with respiration
- Hernial orifices - intact/normal
- Mass becomes less/more prominent on leg rising
- Palpation findings - always from normal/non-tender area —> Abnormal/tender area

- a (shape) irregularly enlarged soft/tense mass of ~ x cm size palpable in the lower abdomen, arising from LIF/midline and extending in to lumbar/umblical/hypogastrium
- with well-defined borders on right side, all borders palpable
- non tender to touch
- mobility present in vertical/longitudinal/AP axis, no restriction to mobility, ?differential mobility
- Mass from pelvis - no lower border felt/ can’t get below the mass
- midline mass - ~ wk of gravid uterus
- Ballatoma - anteroposterior mobility

- Retroperitoneal mass - on all fours, mass doesn’t fall forward

- solid organ - dull, intestinal loops - Resonant, Ovarian cyst - dull
- Tidal percussion - normal
- Percuss down the back until the normal hyperresonance of the lungs becomes dull over the diaphragm. Then simply have the patient breath in and out deeply while continuing to percuss. The sound should wax and wane. Loss of tidal percussion: Pleural effusion.
